How can I transfer video from my old Video Camera that uses small Tapes to DVD?(It’s not a Digital VidCamera)
I have an old video camera that has small VHS tapes. Is there a way I can transfer them to my computer and burn them onto a DVD. I don’t think there’s really a way to hook it to the computer, because it’s not a Digital Video Camera.
You need an “analog/digital bridge” like
http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Dazzle/
Connect the camcorder to the A/D bridge with the AV cable that came with the camcorder. Connect the A/D bridge to your computer’s USB port. Import.
If your computer has a firewire port, better to use
http://www.canopus.com/products/videoconversion.php
Or, if you get a new camcorder, you can find one that has “analog pass through” and it would act as the A/D bridge…

History of the Camera $70.1 The first photograph was made in 1814 by Joseph Nicphore Nipce using a sliding wooden box camera made by Charles and Vincent Chevalier in Paris, the photograph was not permanent though and it faded. Nipce built on a discovery by Johann Heinrich Schultz (1724): a silver and chalk mixture darkens under exposure to light. While this was the introduction of photography, the history of the camera can be traced back much further. Photographic cameras were a development of the camera obscura, a device dating back to the Book of Optics (1021) of the Iraqi Arab scientist Ibn alHaytham (Alhacen),which uses a pinhole or lens to project an image of the scene outside onto a viewing surface. Before the invention of photographic lapel processes there was no way to preserve the images produced by these cameras apart from manually tracing them. The earliest cameras were roomsized, with space for one or more people inside; these gradually evolved into more and more compact models such as that by Nipces time portable handheld cameras suitable for photography were readily available Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 76 Publication Date: 2010/07/28 Language: English Dimensions: 5.98 x 9.01 x 0.18 inches |

Guard Digital Camera Using Shades
Guards and shields are not made to protect human being only. We use various kinds of guards such as sunglasses, wrist guards to cover and protect different parts of our body. Similarly digital cameras also have different types of shades that guard them from getting damaged. Many of us may get surprised to know that. But it is true. These shades are specially created to protect the cameras from the sunrays which can be harmful for the device.
The modern day digital camera should not be exposed to the extreme heat. The LCD may get damaged if it comes in touch with the excessive sunlight. But now the methods of protecting a digital camera have become quite easier as a number of protection devices that can act as guards have been introduced. All these accessories not only shade your camera but these are quite cheap as well.
Hoodman LCD sunshades – These shades are of different sizes. These can be folded. This type of shade is appropriate for video monitors and LCD screens. This shade can be fixed using Velcro fastener or an elastic strap. But all cameras specially the larger ones cannot be managed by an elastic strap. Elastic straps are used to keep a mini digital camera steady. It is possible to operate the control button while using an elastic strap. You can also choose the other alternatives such as using the self adhesive fastener strips to guard the LCD screen.
Hoodman LCD sunshade is an open kind of shade that covers up the entire LCD screen and keeps it protected from the sunrays. These types of shades are quite affordable too. You can get it selling more or less $ 20 bucks.
Xtend-a-view – Xtend-a-view is a close kind of digi-cam shade. This type of shade is the combination of a LCD shade and an eyepiece of 2X power magnifying loupe. It allows the users to see all the pictures they have taken. These shades can be attached to a camera quite easily using self-adhesive Velcro strip. Therefore, you can easily remove it anytime if you do not want to guard your camera anymore. The price of this shade is around $ 17. Xtend-a-view shade crafted by Williams & Associates is fitted for most of all digital cameras.
JAR sun shield – Jar sun shield is exactly opposite to the Xtend-a-view sun shield. It is open type of shade designed by Jess Russel. It protects the upper part and the sides of the LCD screen. The lower part that is kept open allows you to see the pictures you have taken clearly even under the sunlight. It also helps you to operate the control buttons of the camera. It can be fixed with the camera with a self adhesive Velcro strip. It is quite cheap and sold at $10 only. It is available in black color and is quite handy. You can easily fold it and keep it into the bag after using.
The latest version of JAR sun shield has also introduced recently. It covers the lower part too to restrict the reflection comes from below.
You can buy any of these sun shades for you favorite digital camera. The choice is yours. But buying a sun shade is must. So that whenever you go out and capture your favorite moment under the sun you can do it safely.
