Why do my Sony DSC-H1 downloaded pictures show up as a page of miniature pictures of the original.?
When I download the pictures from the camera, they look normal. But when I open the file (picture) to edit, etc., it opens as a dozen or small copies of the original on the screen. I’m new to this particular camera but never had this kind of problem with my Olympus digitals. Any help would be great.
What has happened is that your camera is in the multi-frame mode. It is designed to take 16 pictures in about a second (used for analizing golf swings, baseball swings). If you press the menu button, there is a control that allows the change between the single frame anvance, or multi-shot mode (that you’re in now).

You can’t use the optical zoom when you’re recording video, though digital zoom is still available.

I was afraid I would miss the powerful 12x optical zoom I had gotten used to with my larger camera, but for some reason I haven’t. There are, of course, some distance shots I don’t even think to try with it, but it doesn’t seem to bother me as most of the pictures I take don’t require a powerful zoom.
The view finder, though usable, is tiny. Some find the tiny view finder a bother. Some are glad to have it.
Some users have complained about noise at ISO’s higher than ISO400 though it doesn’t noticeably worse than other compact digital cameras.
Perhaps the major problem to watch out for with the Canon PowerShot SD780IS, with any sophisticated electronic device really, is that you don’t get a “lemon”. From what I’ve read, a few people have purchased cameras didn’t work right from day one, or after they used it for less than four months. Protect yourself from this problem by purchasing your camera from a reputable supplier.
